Great capture of the ai art zeitgeist. And I agree. Running a digital art practice, I use generative tools to increase productivity and get good quality results more quickly. But crucially as you point out - these are tools. They are not replacements for decisions and creative direction and mixing of mediums and control of message and quality that is inherent in every bit of artistic work. And none of the tools we use (from Midjourney to Stable Diffusion to Wonder Dynamics) are yet a one click wonder machine. It still takes so much work to get good results. But using them means that our small practice can contemplate projects and processes that would previously have been impossibly expensive - like motion tracked character animation and rotoscoped paint over animations.
